Join the Chesapeake Bay Branch of SPBW
Wooden casks are quite rare these days, but in 1963, when several disgruntled beer drinkers gathered at a pub in London to discuss the founding of a society dedicated to the simple pleasure of enjoying cask-conditioned real ale, wooden barrels were still in use. Rapidly, metal casks replaced wooden barrels, but the SPBW was, and is, more concerned with the contents rather than the container. However, the original name has been retained for the sake of tradition.
Our Branch meets once a month at a chosen pub, brewery, or restaurant in the Baltimore/Washington region to enjoy the simple pleasure that is cask-conditioned real ale. We have special events throughout the year.
You can join us by visiting an upcoming meeting (2nd Tuesdays) and speaking with our Treasurer. Or see below and join/renew online right now.
Branch member dues are currently set at $15 per year. Membership is for a calendar year (January - December).
New for 2018: we're offering a joint membership with our friends at CSI, The Cross Street Irregulars Homebrew Club. We have a lot of members in common, as we do with many of the other groups in the Free State Homebrew Club Guild. If this works well with CSI we'll look into expanding it. CSI offers a "couples" membership for 2 persons at a discount.
